Bing Maps / Route Map - "Invalid Credential Banner"
I was recently made aware of the upcoming retirement of Bing Maps for PowerBI. We currently use the Route Map visual for customer facing meetings. Ever since the notifcation of retirement, I now get an error banner across the map that states "The specified credentials are invalid. You can sign up for a free developer account at http://www.bingmapsportal.com"
This banner comes and goes, it will be up for a few hours or a day, then gone for a few hours or a day and then come back. With this being customer facing, the error banner causes a rather large issue as we do not want that visible in customer meetings. My understanding is I will have until end of June to use the Bing Maps but how can I ensure this error banner no longer appears on my reporting until then?

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.Microsoft announced the retirement of Bing Maps for Power BI by June 30, 2025. Until then, Bing Maps should still be functional, but issues like the invalid credential banner may arise due to API key validation or service disruptions.
The error “The specified credentials are invalid” suggests an issue with the API key. Even though Power BI should be handling the key automatically. Under "Bing Maps", check if there’s an option to re-enter credentials or API key.If my response has resolved your query, please mark it as the Accepted Solution to assist others. Thank you.It appears the only place to get an API key is to go to the website listed in the banner: http://www.bingmapsportal.com. When you go there there is a message saying: Bing Maps for Enterprise is deprecated and will be retired, so they don't let you get an API Key.
Yes I can confirm this does not solve the issue.
I'm trying to use the Heatmap visual which is one you can get if you go to the more visuals option but it looks like it has not been updated to use Azure instead of Bing and I don't think users can change this and it is the only real heat map on Power BI.
So now you are stuck with the banner right in the middle of the visual with no way to remove it. At least provide a heatmap visual that works before deprecating features that break the current one.
