Assistance needed

Hello to everyone, I'm delighted to be part of this group and gradually copying. I'm encountering problem any time I open Power BI Desktop notification will appear that the app needs to be updated. I often click to update however, it is not. Ideally, I don't know on how to update the app. Please I need your help to send me the link of the updated Power BI Desktop app. 

Another problem that I'm facing is that any time I click the SQL Server database and then type on the server localhost then ok what will appear is unable to connect. I have spent days on this same problem but I'm unable to resolve it.

I'm a beginner on Power BI Desktop your assistance is highly needed to help achieve my career goal.

    The best solution to your problem is download the latest version from Microsoft official store

    Microsoft releases Power BI Desktop updates monthly, and the latest version is the supported version.

    You can download the latest official 64-bit Power BI Desktop here:

    Download Power BI Desktop — Microsoft

    I suggest using the Microsoft Store version if possible because it can update the desktop automatically.

    Hello Ibraka​, 
    First things first, is SQL Server actually running on your machine? Worth double-checking before anything else.

    If you went with SQL Server Express, that's often the culprit: the server name is usually localhost\SQLEXPRESS, not just localhost. Easy to miss.

    Open SQL Server Management Studio and see what server name it's connecting with: use that exact same one in Power BI.

    If you are still getting the connection error, could you post the exact error message or a screenshot? That would help narrow down the problem.

    For Power BI Desktop, download the latest version from Microsoft's official pag

    For the SQL Server localhost issue, make sure SQL Server is installed and running. If you're using SQL Server Express, try:

    localhost\SQLEXPRESS

    instead of just localhost. Also verify the same server name works in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
