Append Date column

Hi everyone,

I have two identical tables with multiple columns. I want to append these tables, which shouldn't be a problem, but Power BI doesn't append the two Date columns. These two columns have the same structure (day-month-year) and the samen data type. Power BI creates another Date column next to the already excisting Date column and that new column is empthy. So, I don't understand what Power BI is doing and why is doesn't work.

I've uploaded two images: the first image is the original Date column, the second image is how Power BI append the two columns. As you can see, the original Date column has only 'null' values; the whole column is empthy. How can this be resolved?

it often happens when one of the appended columns contains of space-symbol or tab or smth like [Datum ]

I copied/past both tables to two new Excel-sheets to discover a deviation. I discover one date value was 20-02-2019 instead of 20-02-19. So I changed this and both tables appended with each other. I also changed this value in the original tables, but the still didn't append. I still don't understand why it's working in the new Excel-file, but isn't working in the original file.

Anyway, I decided to copy/paste all values in one new table. It's not ideal, but at least I can continue now.

It would be helpful if PBI was able to give a notification which value(s) are preventing a table to append. It would save a lot of time.

    Hi Anonymous

    1. are you sure you are making Append, not merge?

    2. make sure, your column name Datum doesnt't contain any spaces or other symbols

      Hi az38,

      1. Yeah, I am sure.

      2. I went through both columns. There were no deviations in the dates....
