Table doesn't exist error reading from a lakehouse view

Hi,

in order to read some tables from a lakehouse in order to write data onto warehouse tables I've implemented some views in the lakehouse.

I've created a data pipeline using the lakehouse views as the source and the warehouse tables as the destination in a copy activity: when I execute the pipeline I've this error message: "Table doesn't exist." with error code equals to 21454, respect to a source view.

So, does copy activity support the reading data from a lakehouse view? Thanks

    Hi pmscorca 

     

    Apologies for the delay in response.
    While Microsoft Fabric offers robust data copying functionalities, It is currently not possible to use a Lakehouse view as a source for a copy activity in Fabric this is a limitation of the current functionality.

    However, your suggestion is definitely valuable! We use customer feedback like yours to prioritize future features. The more users who request the ability to customize backgrounds, the higher it moves on our list.

    Appreciate if you could share the feedback on our Microsoft Fabric Ideas. Which would be open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

    As I understand that you are encountering an error when trying to read data from a lakehouse view in your Microsoft Fabric copy activity.

    Could you please provide some additional details? Screenshots of the copy activity configuration and the error message would be very helpful. Additionally, if possible, could you share any other relevant information such as the source view definition or the warehouse table schema? This will help me to understand your query and guide you in better way.

      Hi,

      this is the screenshot of the errore message

      For the copy activity I've specified the Silver lakehouse as a connection and the (parameterized) view as a table. Also the data preview for the source goes in error with the same message.

      Hi, it's seems that it isn't possible to select a view when the source is a lakehouse.

      It's a lack!

      It must be possible to select a lakehouse view as a source for a copy activity in Fabric!
