Apache airflow new version and private endpoint support

We have the following questions – if anybody has input it would be much appreciated

  1. The current version is 2.10.5 from Feb 10, 2025, current version as of today is 3.2.2 (29 may 2026). Any idea when we may see a more current version and this is something we may change ourself – I cannot see it in for instance settings on the item?
  2. According to Fabric roadmap it should be “Q2 2026” (I would like to use our smtp server to send email – this is however connected via. private link service and managed private endpoint so need this). Any idea when Apache airflow will support private networks and expectation of when it is planned for GA?
  • Hi KimTutein,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Currently, the Apache airflow version used by fabric is managed by microsoft and cannot be upgraded by customers. Any version updates are rolled out by the fabric team.

For private network/private endpoint support, the fabric roadmap currently lists this feature for Apache airflow jobs in Q2 2026. However, roadmap timelines are subject to change and there is no publicly confirmed GA date available at this time.

I would recommend keeping an eye on the Fabric roadmap and release notes for the latest updates.

    Thanks and regards,

    Anjan Kumar Chippa
