Table visualization - do not change the values in a specific column when filtering
Hi -
Question about the table visualization. Is there a way to make it so that a specific column is not impacted when a slicer is applied ?
That is, if a specific slicer is used to filter out the data, the filter is not applied to the column. On the other hand, the other columns in the table are impacted (sliced so to speak).
Thanks - Jerry
Hi,
Yes, there's a workaround to prevent changes in a specific column when filtering in Power BI, you can follow these steps:
Create a New Table:
- Go to the “Model” view.
- Right-click on your existing table (e.g., “Sales”) and select “New Table.”
- Name the new table
Copy Data:
- In the new table, create columns that mirror the columns you want to display without changes.
- For example, if you want to preserve the “Department” column, create a new column in the “Filtered Sales” table with the same name and copy the data from the original “Department” column.
Use the New Table in Visualizations:
- In your visualizations (e.g., table visual), use the columns from the “Filtered Sales” table instead of the original table.
- When you filter or interact with the report, the values in the “Filtered Sales” table won’t change.
