Salesforce API error non admin

Hello everyone

I have been able to use the desktop version of Power BI to connect to our Salesforce instance's API but only ever as an administrator, my standard user account receives a browser not supported error.  As I'm using the same PC\Power BI instance for both admin and non admin access I would say this error message is spurious.  I have checked that non admin users have API access enabled and can't work out where else to check, any pointers would be appreciated.
