Limits for power bi desktop and service
jaryszek 24GB is fairly large but shouldn't be beyond the capabilities of Power BI. The Power BI service generally has a 1GB limit on PBIX files unless you have PPU or Fabric and then you can have files sized to 10GB or even larger.

Hi jaryszek,
Given that you're working with close to 50 GB of data across two 24 GB tables, it's understandable that Power BI Desktop may experience performance issues during data loading and transformation. To address this, it's advisable to work with a sample file or apply row filters in Power Query to limit the volume of data during development. This approach can help speed up report creation and minimize the risk of timeouts or memory constraints. Once your model and visuals are ready, consider implementing incremental refresh using RangeStart and RangeEnd parameters, so only recent data is refreshed daily while historical data remains in the Power BI Service. Please note that Power BI Pro limits dataset size to 1 GB; for larger datasets, Power BI Premium, PPU, or Microsoft Fabric capacity is required. These options also provide advanced features such as Direct Lake and aggregations for better handling of large datasets. Additionally, optimizing your data model by removing unnecessary columns, lowering cardinality, and using a star schema can further enhance performance.
Thank you.

Super User
After 20 min it managed to load this tables (both have 24 gb x 2 = almost 50 gb of data) but i see that i have already issues like:
data for this query is coming from 1 fct table but it is still to slow for power bi.
How to handle it? Use a sample file? Reduce number of rows loaded in desktop and load more in power bi service using incremental load?
Best,
