Embed visual - sample report visuals not rendering - js powerbi client

Hi all -- I am having a issue with embed visuals specifically on reports generated from the sample datasets/reports in power bi online. I.e. human resources sample, IT spends sample, etc.

The report that contains said visual will render fine inside my app as well as the playground. I am using the AAD token embed method. Some of the visuals occassionally do render but I can't find any rhyme or reason to it. I have 0 issues with reports I've created myself (off of the sample datasets). The visuals render fine. 

It may be worth noting that I've pulled all the config information from these visuals and tried to test on the playground and they do not render there either. The "loaded" event fires but the "render" event is never logged. Are there some known issues around these sample data reports I might be unaware of?
