I have developed Power BI solutions by connecting to Dynamics NAV for Financial and Sales reporting. It should be the same for BC 365 as well.
I accssed the SQL DB and table 349 | Dimension Value and filtered by Dimension Code for the required dimension and used as a table/query entitly in my model. 

This approach was easier for me.
