Dynamic headers for a balance sheet
My company is using a fabric model and I am currently creating a balance sheet report.
This report will allow users to select the currency they are interested in (e.g system currency which would be GBP, local currency (which would be whatever country is shown)
My balance sheet essentially has the accounts on the left and then the country in the row with the balance
I need to be able to add the currency associated with each country to the row header
is that possible
E.g
When selecting “local currency”
instead of it showing as “UAE”, “Belgium” , China
i want it to show
UAE (AED) , Belgium (euro(the symbol would be ideal), China (RMB)

I believe "fabric model" you mean a semantic model in Direct lake storage mode. If so then create calculated columns or custom tables in direct lake storage mode. As long as you are using direct lake on one lake, please refer the below blog
Direct Lake Calculated Columns (Preview) | Microsoft Fabric Community
If you are using direct lake on sql, then for custom column or custom table you can directly create them with your warehouse or lakehouse and use it.
If none of the options solves your requirement and you still want to use a measure as column header then its not possible in power bi native table or matrix visual. However I created a custom visual using calude code called "Smart Table" and wrote a blog about its features, you can refer to it.

It’s a semantic model on fabric so I can’t add a column. Only measure

Yes this possible, assume your legal-entity dimension has:
- Country Local Currency
- UAE AED
- Belgium EUR
- China CNY
- UK GBP
Create a currency display column:
Country Currency Display =
'DimLegalEntity'[Country] & " (" & 'DimLegalEntity'[LocalCurrency] & ")"
