Deployment with Live Connection to SSAS
Hi, we are planning to do an enterprise wide roll out of PowerBI.
We desire that all the users have access to the data via live connection on SSAS.
At this point I am a little bit confused about the deployment of these setting.
What would be the steps to follow:
I develop the app in the pbi desktop with a live connection and than publish it?
But how I can ensure that every users consumes via live connection ?
Do I need to setup a gateway for that?

For your on-prem SSAS using Live Connection, you need to deploy On-Prem Gateway. Since it is live connection, any user who will these dashboards/reports, data will come from your on-prem SSAS.
To make it work, yes, you need On-Prem Gateway.

You need to provide credential when creating data source in Gateway.
To limit data access for end users, you can configure Row Level Security.

If you are creating report within power bi desktop and publish it onto power bi service, you just need to install the On-Premise Gateway the server which hosts your SSAS server. The connection will consume Gateway to make power bi service find on-premise data source.
