Data with current layout option for custom visual using matrix dataViewMapping
- 3 months ago
Hi smpa01,
The below Microsoft Learn documentation explains the available export options and their limitations, but it doesn’t explicitly call out support for custom visuals under the “Data with current layout” option. At the same time, the documentation clearly mentions that this export option is available only for Table and Matrix visuals, which refers to the native Power BI visuals.
Because of this, even if a custom visual is built using a matrix dataViewMapping, the export behavior is still determined by the built‑in visual type. There isn’t any documented capability or API that allows custom visuals to enable Data with current layout. As a result, this should be considered a current product limitation, rather than a configuration or implementation issue.
Official reference:

Thanks,
Prashanth
