Stacked Area Chart with Transparent Layers
If you prefer native visuals
- Create a stacked area chart with transparent fills.
- Use conditional formatting or layered shapes to simulate background color bands.
- You’ll need to pre-process the RAG status into a separate layer or use bookmarks/shapes creatively.
Limitations
- Harder to control background shading per category.
- Axis orientation may be less intuitive.

Can we achieve something like the visual i shared . The range should be against the category . The category in the image is in left hand side and the numbers are plotted against the category based on the colors and the background colors
