A SKU to F SKU?

Does anyone know if A SKUs are being migrated to F SKUs?

I know it is possible to move to F SKUs - see this article from May 2023 - https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-embedded-with-microsoft-fabric/ but, with the announcement that P SKUs are being migrated to F SKUs - see - https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/important-update-coming-to-power-bi-premium-licensing/ I was wondering whether the same applied to A SKUs yet? I haven't seen a specific article about this but might have missed something?

I have been doing some research on this so anyone considering migrating should be aware that the equivalent PAYG F SKUs are a lot more expensive (ca +65%). It is only the Reservation SKUs that are comparable in price. I am using UK South in my analysis.

belvoir99 I have not seen anything on that yet. Wouldn't be surprised though given where things are headed.

  • Greg_Deckler thanks for the confirm! Yes I suspect so too, but the pricing is a bit ominous. With the F SKUs you are heavily penalised for PAYG vs Reservation. Those on the lower A SKUs are unlikely to want the extra features of F SKUs.

belvoir99 Oh, absolutely, I don't see what value Fabric brings to an embedded analytics solution intended for use by ISV's. Doesn't make a ton of sense.

Greg_Deckler I'm glad I'm not the only one! That doesn't of course mean that F SKUs aren't coming anyway, if only to consolidate the platforms.
