    Prev Month =
VAR PreviousDate =
    EOMONTH ( MAX ( 'Monthly Joined'[Date Joined] ), -1 )
RETURN
    CALCULATE (
        SUM ( 'Monthly Joined'[ContJoined] ),
        'Monthly Joined'[Date Joined] = PreviousDate
    )

MadaM , You should always use date table in such cases And visual should also use date from date table on axis 

 

example

Month behind Sales = CALCULATE(SUM(Sales[Sales Amount]),dateadd('Date'[Date],-1,Month))
