    GROUP BY in SQL is usually SUMMARIZE in DAX 🙂

     

    SUMMARIZE('MYTABLE', [item_name], "item_count", COUNTROWS('MYTABLE'))

     

    That will create a table with two columns (item_name and item_count). Use that as <table> in the TOPN function.
