Column Description when user hovers on it

Hello everyone!

I saw that this question had been already appeared here but still didn't find clear solution for this issue.

I would like to ask if it still not support in power bi and may be you can give me some worksaround?

Thank you in advance,

Ekaterina

  • hi Katerina_SL

    Since you mentioned workaround. you can use Label.

    Step1 : Create a measure

    Transparent = "#FFFFFF00"

    Step2:
    Insert a Label, disable everything under Shape > Style.
    Go to General > Title > Enter your description here.
    Under the color for Title, use formula(Measure).
    Place the label over your column. Make sure it always stays on top.

    Hi Katerina_SL ,

    Are you referring to the definition/description of each column name that is displayed in PBI when the user hovers over the column name in the table visualization?

    Sorry about that, based on the current capabilities of Power BI and as of my latest knowledge, your demand is a good idea, while it is not supported to implement in Power BI currently.
    Perhaps you can submit an idea for add support with this requirement:

    I also found a similar post. Please kindly refer to it.
