Sales & Returns Sample Report
While this report does show some nice features of Power BI, it is once again another demo report that is not accessible.
A quick browsing of the report tells me:
- tab order is not set and decorative shapes are not hidden in the tab order
- there are color contrast issues with the light blue text on the blue background
- there are color contrast issues with the light gray bars on the white background
- No alt text has been set on visuals and the titles of the visuals are not very descriptive
The best thing I can say for it is that it seems to be mostly colorblind friendly due to the use of only a few couple of colors on each page and not combining red/green, etc.
I would love to see a nice demo report from Microsoft that even makes an attempt at basic accessibility. Maybe this one could be updated to do so? We have the features, there is documentation to teach people how to do this if they haven't already learned.

I almost always make my own palette rather than using a built-in one, but that is just because I am rather particular. If I don't have an organizational color palette to work from, I usually default to blue and gray or use viridis as inspiration. Lately, I'm enjoying using the free Adobe color tool to check my palettes for color blindness conflicts. But I also still just grab screenshots and put them in Coblis as another check. There are also browser extensions to help you check color blindness and other color contrast issues. I did check the first five colors of the default palette and they were ok as far as most types of colorblindness, and all colors had sufficient contrast to be used in charts against a white background.
