Capacity overview events and Timepoints details

Good morning,

 

is there any update on when the information about the operations provided by the 'Capacity overview events' connector from an eventstream will be included?

    There is a useful update since the earlier replies.

    Microsoft has now moved Capacity Overview Events to GA as of August 2026, but the current schema is still summary-level rather than individual operation-level telemetry.

    The GA source currently exposes two event types:

    • Microsoft.Fabric.Capacity.Summary
    • Microsoft.Fabric.Capacity.State


    The Summary event is emitted every 30 seconds and includes capacity-level CU information plus a workload breakdown, so you can distinguish consumption from areas such as Semantic Models, Spark, Warehouse, Eventhouse, Data Integration, etc. It does not currently expose the individual item/operation detail that you are referring to from the Capacity Metrics experience.

    The more granular capability appears to be the separate Capacity Operation Events feature. It is still listed on the Fabric Real-Time Intelligence roadmap for Public Preview in Q3 2026.

    I haven't found a more specific Microsoft release date than that, so I would treat Q3 as the current roadmap target rather than a committed ETA.

    Also, because Capacity Overview Events has now reached GA with the current Summary/State schema, I would not expect the missing operation-level detail to simply reappear in that connector without a separate product update. Capacity Operation Events looks like the capability to watch for that level of granularity.

    Welcome to this Fabric Community forum.

    Regarding the Fabric Capacity overview events, I checked the documentation.

     

    There, you can access these events via the Real-Time Hub:

     

    I tested this shortly, and it seems available as an Eventstream source.

    Unfortunately, I do not have the right permissions. You need to be an administrator:

     

    These rights limitations seem fair due to the wish to access the capacity itself.

      svelde is correct, if you are a Fabric Administrator, you can set this up now for Capacity Overview Events, which will tell you the overall usage of your capacity, and let you know when the capacity state changes (goes into interactive delay, interactive rejection, or background rejection).

      As long as you have the correct permissions, setting this up is very easy and takes about 5 minutes. You just need to click on the source in the real time hub, select which capacity you wish to monitor, select an eventstream (or create a new one), and then configure a destination. 

       

      On the roadmap currently scheduled for Q3 2026, but this date has been pushed back a few times, is Capacity Operation Events, which should give us more granular details about which items are using capacity, instead of just what the total capacity usage is as a whole.

        Right, the most detailed information is something that was in the preview but disappeared. It provided operation-level info, just like you have in the capacity metrics. In the preview, the user relationship was missing, which they were going to add. Now the key is knowing when this information will be back since it would be really useful to control overages in the interactive and avoid the small delay that Capacity Metrics has.
