"Text Filter" https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-us/product/power-bi-visuals/WA104381309?tab=Overview
This has been a very useful visual for me in my various Power BI report. However, I recently noticed an "alert" on this visual, saying it is not supported. can you please update the visual to the latest interface?
Else, is there an alternate visual for this? I know the Slicer has similar functionality.

We deploy Power BI embedded to hundreds of Airlines around the world, this is a key visual for our users.

Couldn't agree more. This visual is critical to our reports because the alternative search feature set available using drop downs is horribly non-user friendly. The base format of a search box has always been a form of a simple text filter. It's baffling to me that a modern system could be implemented without one. This will be a huge blow if we can't find an alternative.

Agree we use it in most of our reports and don't have any alterative. It isn't the most performant or feature rich visual but it is the best we have.
I wish there was a native integration with Cognitive Search in Power BI.

We have this visual in many of our enterprise reports. What is the impact to those existing reports published to the service after this has been deprecated? Will the reports load with the visual just showing an error? How can we collect all of our reports that have been published with this visual to replace it?

For the timeline slicer, link is broken and will include another visual if you import it.

Same problem here, trying to download the Timeline Slicer, but it downloads Charticulator

I have the same issue here! How we can fix it?

The options available for controlling the Chiclet slicer under "General" disappear in the new format experience.
We use loads of chiclets and love them, but this makes them really hard to control
The basic controls about rows, columns etc look like this in the old experience:But when I activate the new format pane:
I can't do the orientation, columns, rows in the same place:They aren't available using search either:

This morning (AEST) we have noticed that the Chiclet Slicer from AppSource is causing glitching in the PowerBI Service. It is difficult to change the selection in the slicer and matrix visuals are flashing until this custom visual is removed from the page. I noticed a week ago that the visual had the below note on it:
I wondered if the issue is a result of the new version. Is this a known issue. Would be great to know when it will be fixed, in the meantime we are switching all reporting away from this visual back to the standard slicer.

I have also come across the same issue today. Worked perfectly fine until today. Now we are seeing lots of screen flickering on reports that contain the chiclet slicer.
Will be intersting to know if this is to be addressed in the 2.0.0.0 version

Hi
we've just updated our Power BI Report Server to the September 2023 and have now an issue with the Chiclet slicers not showing the selection. They still filter the report page in the published version but the selection doesn't keep the coloured highlight to show which value was selected. In desktop it's still keeping the selected value highlighted, so not sure why this disappears when saved to the report server. Can anyone help with this?

I have run into an issue with the Timeline Slicer visual not getting updated. Both the desktop and online versions of BI are installing version 2.4.0 from Appsource. In Desktop I can just force it to ignore appsource and install a newer version from a local file but this doesn't help with my published reports. Is there something I can do to get version 2.5.11 in PowerBI Service?

Hi Support,
The Timeline Slicer 2.5.11.0 in Power BI caused issues today.
The Timeline Slicer visual automatically updated to 2.5.11.0 in Power BI Service.- This caused the settings to reset to default.
- We have very many reports and to update them all will be a tremendous effort.
- It also caused the vertical scroll bar to appear and unable to remove it unless we resized the visual to 165 height.
- We are unable to update the Timeline Slicer visual from 2.4 to 2.5 in desktop.
Please Advise workaround or ETA on fix.- Marc_PonickAdvocate I
Same issue here. It looks like the version for download claims to be 2.5 but it's really 2.4.
Tried a new blank report with no custom visuals, and it downloaded the 2.4 version as well.
Desktop shows the visual as I want it to appear, but online the visual is showing all options as per default settings.
We have this in 100s of views, so a fix is needed asap.
- This caused the settings to reset to default.

Hello Support,
The problem is apparently general: I have this problem with the "TimeLine Slicer" visual on all pages of all my reports! The PBI DESKTOP version (V. 2.4.0) is not the same as the PBI SERVICE version (V.2.5.11.0)... This is a lot of work to edit all pages of all reports and publish everything... Please publish a fix soon...- misaacsAdvocate II
The Powerbi timeline visual in the web is version 2.5.13.0 but version 2.4 in PBI desktop (Version: 2.143.878.0 64-bit (May 2025). 2.5.13.0 in the web has a bug where it does not maintain the setting under Force selection - latest availabe per period. This is causing our automated executive reports that are emailed to not display the right information in the email because it's not defaulting to the latest available period. This was a previous but we've experienced before and now it seems like it's back.

For us, the problem is solved this morning, release 2.4.0 is back on the Power BI Services platform

Just noticed the same thing. Everything is magically back to normal for the Timeline Slicer. Thank you to the folks that solved it!

The Timeline visual is currently broken. Visual works if I clear the date filter and select entire range, as soon as I select a specific range my visuals all error.
App version is 2.4.0 with an update in the store to go to v2.5.13.0. This new version fails to install, even after removing v2.4.0 (or the version number in 2.5.13.0 is incorrect). A lot of reviews in the store are reporting the same issue.
Visual About after the update:
Edit: The plot thickens! All date slicers appear to break my visuals, so it's not limited to the Timeline visual. I have since downgraded (?), or removed the MS Store version of PowerBI and done a manual install of PBIDesktopSetup-2025-02_x64.exe v2.140.157.0 and my visuals are all working again. So the problem appears to be with a recent build of PowerBI and quite possibly limited to the Microsoft Store version.

First of all: Thank you very much! I managed to solve the same issue by downgrading to the February version of PBI Desktop.
Besides that, I'm very curious if this error was addressed correctly and is under review by Microsoft, as it is a huge problem.
I can assure you this has nothing to do with my computer, as I tried everything (even completely reinstalled the PC). I don't know about you, but I'm using an ARM-based PC; maybe that's something to consider.
- StinkysAdvocate II
Happy to help!
Curious, did you try version 2.142.928.0 64-bit (April 2025) from the Microsoft Store? Because this version appears to be working for me as of last week. It's still broken for others, and I am unsure if it's the version, the source, or me just happening to stumble upon the perfect scenario of uninstall/reinstall steps to get it working.

There seems to have been a change in the Power BI service that is providing and undisreable effect on the "Chiclet Slicer" that now produces a tool tip that has infomation that I do not want in the popup box. Yes I have turned of the tool tips and everything else that I could find and had copliot try to help can you maybe expose this property so that it can be turned off?

Hello,
I am creating a Gantt Chart, but for some reason some events are show up black when the Legend does not black to label any events. Does anyone know why they are back and how to get the event to show the correct color according to the legend.
Below is a screen shot.
For Example: according to the legend this event should be blue:
Thanks in advanced.

"Text filter"
Hi
The visual Text filter will not be depreicated. We will continue supporting this visual.
The in-product message will be removed. Thanks!
- BamDastardAdvocate IV
Good morning Anonymous. It looks like the visualization has been removed from AppSource and is again showing the deprecation warning. Please advise. I have reopened my case.
- AnonymousNot applicable
The visual will be back again to AppSource on Wednesday and the message will be removed.
We will still be providing support for this visual.
Thanks for the feedback.
