Here’s the quick checklist to make “SQL database (preview)” show up in Fabric:

    1. Tenant setting
Ask your Fabric/Power BI admin to open Admin portal >> Tenant settings and turn on SQL database (preview) for your user/security group. Also ensure Users can create Fabric items isn’t blocking you.
    2. Capacity & region
Your workspace must sit on a Fabric capacity (F-SKU or trial) where SQL database is enabled and the capacity region supports it. If the toggle isn’t available, the feature isn’t in that region yet.
    3. Workspace placement
Move the workspace to that capacity (Workspace settings >> Advanced >> Capacity). The tile won’t appear on shared capacity. Then you should see New item >> Databases >> SQL database.
    4. Your role
To create, be Admin/Member/Contributor in the workspace. To view an existing SQL database item, Read item permission (or Viewer with item read) is enough.

If all of the above are set, refresh the portal and search again New item >> Databases >> SQL database should be there.
