Terraform based Deployment queries

Hello Everyone,

I understand terraform can be used to spin up infrastructure, but can we do incremental deployments?

For instance., I have created Workspace and its Item using Terraform and I have not integrated Workspace with GIT. Now i have made changes to those items like added some code on spark notebooks and how can I use terraform to deploy these to other higher environment without in-built GIT integration?

Is it easy to work \deploy without GIT integration? What are all the complications we might face?

Thanks,

Srisakthi

    Hi Srisakthi

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community.

Terraform helps provision infrastructure like workspaces, but it doesn't track manual changes made to items like updated Spark notebooks, unless those changes are codified and managed by Terraform.

Since your workspace isn't Git-integrated, Terraform won’t detect or deploy your manual code changes to other environments. This makes deployments harder and riskier, as there’s no version control or automation.

To resolve this : Either manually export the updated items like notebooks and redeploy them to the target environment or Enable Git integration for your Fabric workspace. This allows you to track changes, manage versions, and automate deployments cleanly especially when combined with Terraform for infrastructure.

Without Git, deployment becomes manual and error-prone. With Git, it's streamlined and consistent.

    Thanks.
