Searching for best tools/platforms for project tracking

Dear All,

I am currently looking for a best Microsoft platform or tool for weekly progress tracking.

The model follows the process flow illustrated in the attached image, which includes steps such as the Inaugural Meeting, Meeting with Chair, and others. This process flow is applied to every sector. I prefer a system where I can first select the sector, followed by the week, to view the progress over time. While the table structure remains consistent across weeks, the content, particularly the progress and target vs. actual dates, will vary by sector and week.

Could anyone suggest the best Microsoft tool for this purpose and advise the steps?

  • Hi Sarasvathi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric community Forum.

Thanks for raising your concern and after going through that details we have conducted several workarounds and check, and it got worked below is the procedure of that.

To Track the project there are several tools which help you to solve the issue majorly we have used the POWER BI Tool.

    • First launch Power BI Desktop to start building your report. Click on Home > Get Data and select the appropriate data source. Load the data into Power BI after that use the Power Query Editor to clean or manipulate data if necessary, change data types ensure dates are in Date format.
    • Remove unnecessary columns or rows and rename columns for better readability. Once the data is ready, design the visuals to create an insightful and interactive dashboard.
    • Now Pick slicer and add the Sector to filter the dashboard by specific sectors and add week to focus on progress for a particular week.
    • After that take the tables to display detailed information such as Process Step, Target Date, and Actual Date or Bar Charts to visualize progress percentages or count of completed steps.
    • Now Click Home > Publish in Power BI Desktop. Choose the workspace in your Power BI Service account where the report will be hosted.

The above is the process which we have created and, also for your reference I have provided .pbix file here please have a look on it.

Apart from that there are additional tools which you can use, and monitor based on your requirement.

    • Microsoft Lists.
    • Microsoft Planner.
    • Microsoft Excel.

If this post helps, then please give us Kudos and consider Accept it as a solution to help the other members find it more quickly. Also if you have any further queries please feel free to reach out to us we will guide you accordingly.

    Thank you.
