New UI Functionality - making work harder for Engineers

Hay everyone,

Has anyone else noticed, that now when you have multiple web browsers, and multiple tabs open, that now all workspace's you are in open in each fabric web page?

This is super annoying, as a data engineer, working in Fabric, I have multiple browser windows open for Pipelines and Monitoring runs, as well as Azure.
I have different web browsers for different sources of data, then with each separate tab for a layer of the stack

Browser 1 = Source
Tab 1 = Ingestion workspace
Tab 2 = Transform layer
Tab 3 = Semantic Models
Tab 4 > Report workspace for end user business units

Now in each tab, all workspaces are in the lefthand UI and there is no separation, not to mention more clicks.

This is super annoying, as each workspace is a separate colour and logo and it made it easy to work through the pipelines and engineering separation, and now I have a busy UI and no real idea about where I am in the stack!

This maybe nice for report end users, but as an Engineer, this is yet again another upgrade that is not useful for someone who spends 8 hrs a day in Fabric, doing multiple jobs and working on different things, in different contexts!

Are there any docs about this new "Feature" or can you stop it?

    Hello DemoFour,

I can understand the issue, especially when working across several workspaces and layers at the same time.

From the current Fabric documentation, the tabbed navigation experience is intended to allow multiple items, monitoring pages, and workspaces to remain open while you work. However, I could not find a documented setting to disable this experience or restore the previous workspace separation behavior.

    Microsoft reference:

Use Fabric Home to find, personalize, and manage content

For an engineering workflow like the one you described, I agree that clearer workspace context is important. If there is no tenant-specific option controlling this experience, I would submit this through the Fabric feedback/Ideas channel because the ability to pin or isolate navigation by workspace would be useful for multi-workspace engineering scenarios.

As a temporary workaround, I would rely on browser profiles or clearly named browser windows for each environment/layer, but I agree this does not fully replace the previous visual separation.

    Best regards,

Thank you for the input, currently even if you open a private browser, this will not persist to non private browsers.  However, the new private browser and or tabs within, will still have the same behaviour.

I get why this would seam like a good idea for Viewers or reports only as data customers especially if they have different reporting workspace's to find, this is not very good for data engineering work.

Fabric is a data engineering platform, but we are second class citizens to AI and reporting!

        Hi DemoFour,

Thank you for sharing the additional details. and thanks to Omkar_1712 for sharing valuable insights.

At this time, there doesn't appear to be an available option to change this navigation behavior. If this functionality is important for your workflow, I'd encourage submitting your suggestion to the Microsoft Fabric Ideas forum, where the product team actively reviews user feedback. Ideas with strong community support are more likely to be considered for future enhancements.
