MS Learn - Applied Skills - Fabric warehouse
Hello, I just finished the Microsoft Applied Skills: Implement a data warehouse in Microsoft Fabric exam, achieving a 60% approval rate (I understand that 65% is required to pass). The issue is that, according to the instructions provided, I completed all the steps, and in my opinion, they were done correctly:
- I created the data warehouse with the requested name.
- I added a data pipeline to move the data from the Azure SQL Database to the tables in the dbo schema of the Fabric warehouse.
- I created a Dataflow Gen 2 to load the data from the CSV file into a table in the dbo schema of the warehouse, and then I created the requested view.
- I applied the requested security constraint.
So, I don’t understand what might be wrong or why my exam response was rejected. I understand that they don’t share the specific errors to avoid bias, but in this situation, without knowing what was done incorrectly, it’s likely that in a future attempt, I might do exactly the same thing again. Has anyone else experienced this? What could have gone wrong?
Hi PaulBerronesLpe I just completed the test and got 95%.
Ultimately I can't really tell what you did wrong or run through the solution in any detail, but the only thing I can say is that you need to be very specific with every requirement. There are key words and specific instructions that should influence your choice of tooling and approach. There are also specific requirements that I can see you haven't met from your explanation. Ultimately it is much more about following their instructions explicitly than meeting the end goal any which way.
The result page does give you a pass / fail of each section so it should give you some indication as to which areas you haven't met. The 5% I missed out on was in the security section and I realised immediately that I forgot to do that security constraint!
Hi PaulBerronesLpe,
Thank you justinjbird, for your insights.
I think it largely depends on details such as correct naming conventions, appropriate tooling choices, precise data mappings, and proper implementation of security settings. Even minor oversights, like a missing security constraint or slight misconfiguration, can cause a section to be marked incomplete, even if the overall solution appears correct.

Hi PaulBerronesLpe I thought I would add more context on reflection to help. Referring to my original feedback you need to be very thorough with what is asked of you and take everything that is said into account when you decide how you approach the solution. It isn't enough to achieve the end goal any which way. The bits is your response you should consider next time are:
- "I added a data pipeline to move the data" there are specific expectations in the instructions that this hasn't considered.
- "to the tables in the dbo schema" this doesn't follow the spec.
- "I created a Dataflow Gen 2" there are specific expectations in the instructions that this hasn't considered.
Beyond these things, there were other very specific expectations around schema and output of the final object that you may want to check your solution against. Hope this is helpful, and good luck!
