Monitoring - enable new experience

we are trying to explore workspace monitoring which need be done by enabling 'new experience' option under monitoring in workspace settings.

when we click on the button nothing happens, sometimes it goes to next screen - once we click on Save, shows error saying, 'feature is not available'.

did anyone have similar issue?

    Hi lprasadbabu,

"Feature is not available" when saving workspace monitoring usually comes from one of the prerequisites rather than the button itself. Worth checking each:

    1. Capacity type the workspace must be on a Fabric capacity (F SKU or Fabric
trial); Pro / PPU workspaces cannot enable monitoring
    2. Tenant setting Admin portal > Tenant settings > "Workspace admins can turn on
monitoring for their workspaces" enabled for your group
    3. Your role you need to be Admin of the workspace
    4. Capacity state capacity running (not paused) and not throttled
    5. Region monitoring creates an Eventhouse in the workspace, so the
capacity region must support Eventhouse / Real-Time Intelligence
    6. Item creation "Users can create Fabric items" must allow you (and not be
restricted for Eventhouse/KQL items by an item-type policy)

Point 5 and 6 catch people out most often, because enabling monitoring is really "create a Monitoring Eventhouse + KQL database" behind the scenes. A quick test: try to create an Eventhouse manually in the same workspace. If that fails too, the error message there is usually more specific (capacity, region or policy).

So my overall approach would be:

Confirm F/trial capacity + workspace Admin role
-> Check the monitoring tenant setting
-> Test creating an Eventhouse manually in the workspace
-> Fix capacity/region/item policy based on that error

  • Hi lprasadbabu

This appears to be broken right now.

WHen trying to create the monitoring item, a 403 permissions error is being thrown.

I'd recommend waiting a little longer for Microsoft to fix this issue
