Getting "Only 10 workspaces can be opened at one time" error when none are opened

Hey, I am getting this error when trying to open a workspace in Fabric:

"Unable to navigate to workspace. Only 10 workspaces can be opened at one time. On the left navigation bar, close a workspace and then try again."

However, I don't have any open workspaces atm, as can be seen on by side-bar:

Neither refreshing the page, nor logging out and in again helps.

    HI emkr,
Since no workspaces are visible in your navigation pane, this may be related to the current browser/session state. Please try opening Fabric in an InPrivate/Incognito window or a different browser. If it works there, clear the Fabric site data/cache and retry.

    Thank you.

  • This appears to be a Fabric navigation/session-state issue rather than an actual workspace limit being reached. Based on your screenshot, no workspaces are currently shown as open, so the error message does not appear to reflect the current UI state.

A few things you can try:

    1. Open the workspace using Global Search instead of the Workspaces pane. Search for the workspace name from the Fabric search bar and open it directly. If this works, the issue is likely related to the navigation state rather than the workspace itself.
    2. Try an Incognito browser session. If the workspace opens successfully there, clear the browser cache and site data for app.fabric.microsoft.com and try again in your regular session.
    3. Check from a different browser or device to determine whether the issue is tied to the local browser session.
    4. If the issue persists across browsers, capture the Activity ID/Request ID from the error dialog (if available) and check whether other workspaces can be opened. That can help determine whether the problem is isolated to a specific workspace or related to the Fabric portal state.

From your description, I would not expect manually closing workspaces to help, since the navigation pane already shows none as open. The most practical workaround is to access the workspace through Global Search and verify whether the issue is limited to the Workspaces navigation experience.
