Free Trial activation issues

I signed up for a free trial of Microsoft Fabric as well as Microsoft 365 Business, and yet when I try to activate the free trial, it says that it cannot due to an error. It looks like it is already activated but when I am trying to create a Lakehouse it says that there is no trial account open. As the only email for the organisation, I am both the user and the admin and yet I still cannot activate the trial

Am I missing something when activating my account?

    Hi SYeung ,

Lakehouse needs to be created in a Fabric workspace. Please check if workspace has been granted a fabric trial capacity license.

When the setup is complete, the workspace name will be followed by a diamond suffix pattern.

    Best Regards,

        Hi karn11 ,

You seem to be on a trial PPU license.

Please double check that your trial is a Fabric license.

The trial option is still greyed out on my account. I have checked under "View Account" and can see that Microsoft Fabric (Free) and PowerBI (free) are on my subscription list, so I do not understand why I cannot activate the free account

  • Hi, I saw these posts and have a response.  I had an issue (the same one!), or, I could not select "free trial".

    It was gray.

I have a Azure free trial.  I have created a subscription.  I have created a resource group.  I have linked my subscription according to the following steps.  In other words if you do not have basic training in Azure you need to try to learn them.  Resources are created within a Subscription.  Numerous sources exist.  They explain intro to azure.  I use Azure to just build a database, so I need to create a database after I create a resource group and that is after I create a subscription.  However, to use Fabric free trial I think I needed to add the Fabric service to a subscription and resource group.  I will be charged for something eventually so don't really think it is truly free.

  • Hi this is a followup.

It seems that SYeung and I have a similar issue, so I tagged him.  I had to ensure I was listed as the admin for my organization.  In order to do that I also had to do these steps where my domain is recognized by Azure.

Add your custom domain - Microsoft Entra | Microsoft Learn

Also you can see the other community support link which states you have to also start a fabric service in Azure.

Any solution from MS or others, there are quite a few folks facing similiar issue that is discussed on this thread

    - raising a support ticket with MS is not an option - due to lack of  premier access id + contract id/password (which is mandated) so no progress on this front

    - tried Azure subscription which is active, but that did not help either for my case

    - tried creating items in My Workspace, issue still exists

what next to try to fix this????
