First input ignored in notebooks when marking text
Anybody experiencing this? Me and my colleague both have this issue.
So if I mark something in a notebook like in the image, and want to write something else, my initial input is ignored every single time.
I feel like this issue has been present for a few weeks now, and it is sort of frustrating.
It is not an issue in any other places in my browser apart from Fabric Notebooks.

Hi Sperling,
Thank you for reporting this.
I am not aware of any known issue related to the first keystroke being ignored after selecting text in a Fabric Notebook. To help investigate further, could you please provide the following details?
-
Browser name and version
-
Whether the issue occurs in both existing and newly created notebooks
-
Whether it happens in all cell types (SQL, PySpark, Markdown, etc.)
-
Whether the behavior persists in an InPrivate/Incognito session
-
A short screen recording showing the exact steps to reproduce the issue
As an initial check, please also try reproducing the issue in a different supported browser.
Once we have the above information, we can better determine whether this is a notebook editor issue or an environment-specific behavior.
Looking forward to your response
Thank you.

Hi v-sgandrathi
Browser name: Google ChromeBrowser version: 149.0.7827.103 (says up to date)
Whether the issue occurs in both existing and newly created notebooks
I can confirm the issue occurs in both cases
Whether it happens in all cell types (SQL, PySpark, Markdown, etc.)
I just tested in all three, and it occurs in all.
Whether the behavior persists in an InPrivate/Incognito session
Happens in Incognito as well
A short screen recording showing the exact steps to reproduce the issue
This is me marking something in a new cell and writing "Hello", which ignores the first input. The issue occurs every time I mark something and try to write over it.
I also just tested in Opera, and I have the same issue. I'm pretty sure my colleague works in Edge, and she had the issue as well.

Hi Sperling,
Thank you for the detailed information and for sharing the screen recording.
Based on your testing, the issue is reproducible across multiple browsers (Chrome, Opera, and Edge), occurs in both existing and newly created notebooks, affects all tested cell types, and persists in Incognito mode. This suggests the behavior is unlikely to be related to browser settings or extensions.
At this point, we are unable to identify a known issue or provide a confirmed workaround from the Community side. Since investigating Notebook editor behavior requires access to backend diagnostics and telemetry that are not available through the Community forum, I recommend opening a Microsoft Support ticket for further investigation.
Create a Fabric and Power BI Support Ticket - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
When submitting the ticket, please include:
The screen recording
Browser versions tested
Confirmation that the issue occurs in both new and existing notebooks
Confirmation that the issue reproduces across multiple browsers and in Incognito mode
This information should help the support and engineering teams investigate the issue more efficiently.Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I get this too, and it's really really annoying. Has to be focus handling in the UI. Please sort it out Microsoft!
