Fabric Quotas
Microsoft has recently announced the launch of Fabric Quotas - https://blog.fabric.microsoft.com/en-in/blog/announcing-the-launch-of-microsoft-fabric-quotas?ft=All
How is this actually helpful for an organization that is currently using Fabric on reservation basis? I'm not a billing admin, so trying to understand what this feature translates to and what exactly is the benefit.
Thank you, lbendlin, for your response.
Hi KateAllen,
We appreciate your inquiry through the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
In addition to the response provided by lbendlin , please find below my perspective on the benefits of Reserved Instances (RI) in relation to Fabric Quotas.
- Organisations can engage in better resource planning and ensure that their Reserved Instance (RI) aligns with their allocated quota.
- Quotas help prevent unexpected over-provisioning, which could lead to cost spikes and ensure scalability control.
- If an RI purchase exceeds the existing quota, the organisation can request an increase, facilitating easier scalability.
- Quotas provide governance and compliance by preventing unauthorised users from over-provisioning capacity beyond what is planned.
- Reserved Instances (RI) and quotas are not directly linked but must be aligned when provisioning new capacities.
If you find our response helpful, we kindly request you to mark it as the accepted solution and provide kudos. This will assist other community members facing similar queries.
Thank you.
