fabric private + delta sharing
Hi ericjo,
Thank you for posting your query in the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.
When Microsoft Fabric is configured with Private Link (private networking), access to Fabric endpoints is restricted to private network paths and secured within a single‑tenant boundary. Private Link does not enable cross‑tenant connectivity, and scenarios that rely on externally accessible endpoints can be impacted.Because Delta Sharing is intended for cross‑tenant or external data sharing, it is not compatible with Fabric workspaces that are locked down using Private Link. At this time, Delta Sharing cannot be enabled in Fabric workspaces that use Private Link.
If your requirement involves cross‑tenant or governed data sharing, the supported Fabric‑native option is OneLake data sharing, where available.
Azure Data Factory supports only the connectors and data stores explicitly listed in its supported connector documentation. Delta Sharing is not listed as a supported connector in Azure Data Factory.

Hi ericjo,
Thank you for your follow-up question.
Based on the official Microsoft Fabric documentation: About private Links for secure access to Fabric - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn, Private Link in Fabric is primarily designed to secure inbound access to Fabric endpoints through private network paths.
This means Private Link controls how users and client applications connect into Fabric. It is not intended to be the mechanism for managing outbound connectivity from Fabric to external or cross-tenant services.
Because of this:
- Private Link is used to restrict inbound access to Fabric resources.
- Outbound connectivity is governed through other networking and service configurations, not through Private Link itself.
- Simply allowing outbound access may not resolve scenarios that depend on externally reachable or cross-tenant endpoints, such as Delta Sharing.
For governed cross-tenant data sharing scenarios, Microsoft recommends using OneLake data sharing, where supported.
