Fabric Metadata

Hello friends

Looking for some help in idnetifying just what and where  backend metadata exisits that is commonly accessed via  the Fabric API,PBI API access and monitor.

Would like to access things like - who accessed a PBI report  , State of a  notebook  active, waiting etc , a pipeline activity was success and took 5minutes  etc etc  without usings API's

Is there a  way to be able to access that data directly or have all that data fed near real/real time into a location that is accessible by a query tool and not apis .

  • Hi AlanCargill

Microsoft Fabric stores metadata about various activities and resources in a proprietary metadata storage system that is not directly accessible without using APIs.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/governance/metadata-scanning-overview

    Great discussion here :
    https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Fabric-platform/fabric-metadata-system-details/td-p/4002243

The Monitoring Hub in Microsoft Fabric provides a centralized location to view and track activities across workspaces

    Pipeline Run History

While not a direct Fabric solution, Power BI Analytics is a platform designed to access Power BI usage data without coding or API interaction

Please aceept the solution if this is helpful and give kudos

thank you for the information nilendraFabric  .
i had seen this before 'Microsoft Fabric stores metadata about various activities and resources in a proprietary metadata storage system that is not directly accessible without using APIs.'

but wondered if it had changed at all or if it still was the case .

As it still is the case then perhaps  'azure log analyitcs' can help as we would not require apis to access that?

I have not yet read up on the ‘Power Bi Analytics’ you mentioned so don’t yet know what that is and if it can help

The monitor is a little too basic for our needs ,As we are looking to create a list in showing dependency’s of  all the notebook, pipeline activities relating to enterprise ETL . So that at any point in the day we can have a pbi show us what is :-waiting, run, running, blocked , , symantic model has refreshed etc in a single lineage/hierarchical  view .

      also
i hope that Azure log analytics would also provide user activities like the ones we would find in the unified audit log, so say users accessing a pbi report ,who ran a notebook , who downloaded a pbi etc etc
