Fabric Deployment pipeline with different capacities

Hi Community members,

following question:

Is it possible to deploy Fabric items with the Fabric deployment pipeline between workspaces which are packed with different capacities?

I currently only have access to a single capacity and trial. Deploying from F2 capacity to trial does not work and throughs the following error: Export failure: CapacityMismatch.

Iam keen to know if this is due to the trial capacity or even with two real capacities not possible?

Which I can not believe as best practice from MSFT mentions examples to split DEV and PROD environments by assigning them to different capacities. This would then result in a conflict if the above mentioned deployment would not work.

Thanks and looking forward to some insights from the community!

  • HIU Mauro89 , short answer is Yes! you can deploy Fabric items between workspaces assigned to different capacities, as long as both capacities are within the same region and are not trial capacities.

Trial capacities are limited in functionality and tied to the user who created them, only that user is the capacity admin preventing deployment operations between trial and non-trial capacities.

Hope you find this quick explanaition satisfactory, if so, mark as solution and kudos if you find the info. provided useful... all the best!
