Fabric Capacity Metrics "Data Processing Error"

I'm getting the error "There was an error when processing the data in the dataset." after disabling the "Log workspace activity" for Eventspace Monitoring in one of the Workspaces.

I tried re-installing the App, but the problem consisted between multiple re-installs.

    Hi Anonymous
Thank you for reaching out microsoft fabric community forum.

The error "There was an error when processing the data in the dataset" likely means the dataset is trying to access data from the "Log workspace activity" feature, which was recently disabled. Since that data source is no longer available, the refresh is failing.

Try re-enabling the logging to confirm if the dataset depends on it. If it works, you'll need to either keep it enabled or update/remove any queries referencing the workspace activity logs.

Reinstalling the app won’t fix this, as the issue is with the dataset's data source, not the app itself.

If this solution helps, please consider giving us Kudos and accepting it as the solution so that it may assist other members in the community
    Thank you.

  • Hi Anonymous ,

The error "There was an error when processing the data in the dataset" likely stems from disabling "Log workspace activity" for Eventspace Monitoring. This logging is essential for the dataset to retrieve and process activity data. Reinstalling the app alone won't resolve it.

    To fix the issue:

    1. Re-enable "Log workspace activity" in the affected workspace.
    2. Refresh the dataset manually to check if the error clears.
    3. If the issue persists, check dataset credentials and permissions.
    4. Review the dataset's query dependencies to ensure no required data source is missing.

If none of these steps work, contacting Microsoft support may be necessary.
