Post PatronFabric - Mirroring SQLServer MI - More than one mirror to the same Instance and DB?
Dears,
When we speak about Fabric mirroring SQL Server MI (Weather the instance is in 2022 or 2025 update policy) :
1) Can we do more then one mirror to the same Fabric workspace, if the SQL Server MI instance is the same, but for different databases inside this same instance? And, if yes, will it create two different datwarehouses in the same workspace? one per DB mirrored?
2) What about if its the same SQL Server MI DB (meaning the same instance and DB) but to two different workspaces?
3) Can I mirror to the same Fabric workspace at same time, more than one DB which exist in the same SQL Server MI instace? or I can only do one mirror per each database?

1 database in SQL MI instance = 1 mirrored database item in Fabric.
You don’t create one mirror for multiple databases.
You create multiple mirrored database items, one per source database, and you do that by running the same wizard multiple times, each time pointing it at a different database on the same SQL MI instance.There is no “multi‑database” option in a single wizard today.

Here's the answer to your questions with relevant Microsoft docs referring to these points.
1. Each database that you mirror from a SQL MI instance will have a corresponding "Mirrored database" item inside Fabric workspace. In addition, you'll also get an associated SQL analytics endpoint per database. Fabric mirroring is scoped at database level, so each one results in a separate mirrored database item.
When you attempt to create the mirrored item it asks for a database connection - refer to this blog.

2. No, you can't mirror the same database across two different workspaces - this is one limitation described in the docs.
"The SQL Server database cannot be mirrored if the database already has been configured for Azure Synapse Link for SQL or the database is already mirrored in another Fabric workspace."

3. Yes, you can mirror more than one database from a SQL MI Instance on the same Fabric workspace - however as per point 1, one mirrored item per database.
fabricpribeiroWhen you say "will have a corresponding "Mirrored database" item inside Fabric workspace" do you mean that even if I try to mirror two databases at same time from the same SQLServer MI into Fabric , it will still create two different data warehouses in that Fabric workspace ? I cannot, in one mirror, request two databases to be mirrored to the same datawarehouse inside this workspace?
