Data Activator is blank even after adding Rules

I am new to Data Activator. I am trying to use it to fire a Pipeline upon creation of a file in a specific Lakehouse folder. I actually have six folders to watch, and each folder has a specific pipeline associated with it. For each Pipeline, I click Trigger >> Add Trigger, then walk through the steps to create the Rule and save it to my Data Activator item. Once created, I can review it by selecting View Triggers, then clicking the ellipsis next to the "Running" status indicator and selecting "Open in Activator". That works great.

But I also see the Data Activator item in the Fabric browser alongside all the pipelines and lakehouses and other objects. I click it to open it and it is blank.

Why?

Why is it blank if I open it this way, but if I open it from "Open in Activator" I see all (several by now) rules for my pipelines.

What am I missing?

Sometimes things show up, but if I close, then open it again later, it is blank. Sometimes I can refresh the browser and they will show up, but not always.

This is not what I expect. Is it a BUG?

  • Hi ToddChitt,

This happens sometimes due to a UI bug in Data Activator. Instead of opening it from the left nav, try opening it directly from the Trigger card >> ellipsis >> Open in Activator.

That usually loads the rules properly. Also, try stopping and restarting the trigger in some cases that refreshes the view.

  • I'm really not impressed with Data Activator. I set up a Trigger on File Creation to run a Pipeline. I upload a file to the folder it is watching. I see in Data Activator that the event was fired. I see that the trigger is configured to run my pipeline. But if I check the pipeline's Recent Runs, it is has NOT been started.

    Another BUG?
