Adding a Security Group as Fabric Capacity Administrator

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share an observation and double-check with the community: it seems that it’s not possible to add an Entra ID (Azure AD) security group as a Fabric capacity administrator.
From what I can see, the capacity admin role can only be assigned to individual users.

👉 Can you confirm if this is an actual limitation of the platform, or is there a workaround or best practice I might have missed?
Being able to use security groups would greatly simplify access management at scale.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

  • HI AntoineW

You are correct. Currently there is no way to add a security group as Capacity admin. We still need to assign individual users as Capacity admins.

  • Hi AntoineW

I'm seeing the same thing. You can add groups as a contributor on the capacity, but admins must be individuals.

  • Does anyone know if the ability to assign an Entra ID group is on the roadmap at all? I'm curious as to why only individuals can be assigned, when normally best practice dictates that we should use groups.
