A transient error has occurred while applying table changes to SQL

My Lakehouse and SQL Endpoint were running fine until yesterday when errors appeared on several tables in the SQL Endpoint. The error message is:

"A transient error has occurred while applying table changes to SQL. Please try again."

This error has persisted for over 48 hours.

  • We are using Shortcuts in the Lakehouse.
  • Deleting the Shortcuts hasn’t resolved the issue or updated the SQL Endpoint.

I can’t determine the root cause and would greatly appreciate any help or guidance!

  • Hi. The solution was to reset the Capacity Unit by the MS Support. After this, everything runs as expected.

    HI Arete,

Any structures or schema changes that you applied on the datasource tables? Can you please share some more detail information about this issue? They should help us clarify your scenario and test to troubleshoot.

    Regards,

Hi Anonymous, yes there were schema changes to the source table. Will this cause issues like this in the future? The SQL endpoint finally refreshed but it took 3 days to complete.

Hello. I have the same problem too, since yesterday afternoon. I can still see this error message at some tables in my Lakehouse analytic endpoint. Its also not possible to start a SQL quers like Top 100.

Additional Info: F2 CU, Europe. Fabric Capacity Metrics shows no problems with the CU. So I can exclude any capacity problems.

It looks like that this only happens by DataflowGen2. When I start a Datapipeline its running and I can see the table in the Lakehouse and without any transient error in the SQL endpoint.
