SSIS Slowly Changing Dimension

I am trying to set up a slowly changing dimension in SSIS. I've set up the columns in the SCD wizard. I want to use start and end dates to identify current and expired records. When I go to select a variable to set date values, there is no option to select. I cannot make use of system variables such as the ContainerStartTime. Am I missing something?
