sensivity labels in purview

how to apply sensivity labels in purview.we have created and published in microsoft compliance portal.

  • Hi geethika123 ,

To apply sensitivity labels in Microsoft Purview after you have created and published them in the Microsoft Compliance Portal, please follow these steps:

    1. Make sure your Purview account is connected to Microsoft Information Protection (MIP). This enables Purview to read and apply the sensitivity labels you created.
    2. In the Purview portal, go to the "Data Map" and select the data asset (such as SQL table, file, or storage account) you want to label.
    3. In the asset details page, look for the “Apply sensitivity label” option. If your environment is set up correctly, you should see the published labels available to select.
    4. Choose the appropriate label and save your changes.

    Requirements/Notes:

    • You need to have the correct permissions in both Purview and Microsoft Compliance Center.
    • The integration must be configured by an administrator. If you don’t see the option, your admin may need to enable MIP integration in Purview.
    • Sensitivity labels can be applied both manually (as above) or automatically using scanning/classification rules.

    References:

If you need step-by-step guidance on enabling the integration or troubleshooting, let me know!

If this helps, please consider giving kudos and marking the post as solution to help other community members.

    Thank you!
