Copilot in Fabric

Hi everyone.

Is using Copilot with Fabric data warehouse worth it in your opinion? I am considering enabling it but it seems quite expensive to run.

    Hi  Anonymous

Thank you for reaching out microsoft fabric community forum.

Using Copilot with Microsoft Fabric can indeed be a powerful tool for streamlining your data warehousing tasks. It offers features like natural language to SQL, code completion, and intelligent insights, which can significantly enhance productivity. However, it's true that the costs can add up, especially if you're using the Pay-As-You-Go model.
If you plan to use Fabric extensively, you might want to consider the Reservation model, which can offer discounts of up to 40% if you commit for a year or more. This could be more cost-effective in the long run.Ultimately, it depends on your specific needs and usage patterns. If the advanced features and productivity gains are worth the investment for your organization, it might be a worthwhile expense.

  • Hi Anonymous ,

Copilot can be expensive to run and if you are not using F64 in your workspace, then it would be difficult to scale up and down everytime you want to use.

If Copilot needs to be used only with Warehouse, you can also try using SSMS Preview release 21 which has Copilot (but I hear it is still in early stage). There are also many ChatGPT extensions that come with VSCode or Azure Studio, which might be good (although, you need to take care of your data sensitivity)
