workspace permission git branch out

According to the documentation, contributors should be able to branch out. but it is not working. I have to set my colleague as member for them to be able to branch out. A I missing something? ...

Hi freddotclem,

 

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

 

Even with Contributor access in Fabric, the user must have the following Git repository permissions:

Create a new Git branch from within Fabric Contents: Read and write
Branch out to a new workspace Contents: Read and write

 

Without these Git permissions, Contributors in Fabric cannot branch out until they are granted the necessary access in the Git repository.

My colleagues have read write on the repo. Else they couldn't branch out as members.
