Unable to Delete Data Pipelines and Notebooks
- 1 month ago
This issue is resolved now - I tried to delete the pipelines after waiting a few days and they were deleted successfully. I can only assume that there were some references in deleted items, or some other object that was preventing deletion.
Hi CoulterJames2,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.
Here the dependent items message means another fabric item is still referencing the pipeline or notebook, even if it shows as empty. Please check the Lineage view or Impact analysis to identify if there are any remaining dependencies. Also check the workspace Recycle bin, as deleted items can sometimes continue to hold references.
If no dependencies are shown and if you are still unable to delete the items, I recommend opening a Microsoft Fabric support ticket for further investigation.

There are no dependent items in lineage view or impact analysis. I can only assume that there are deleted items in the Recycle Bin that reference these objects which is preventing them from being deleted.

Hi CoulterJames2,
Thank you for confirming. Since lineage view and impact analysis show no dependencies, the reference blocking the delete is not visible in the UI. If there are any related deleted items in the workspace Recycle Bin, try permanently removing them and retry.
If it still won't delete, this looks like a hidden backend reference that cannot be cleared from the portal, so I recommend raising a Microsoft Fabric support ticket to the team.
