    yes, you will want to consider hard before disabling encryption.  Better to update the certificate on the SQL server.

    Please follow below steps to resolve the error;

    1.Make sure the certificate is valid, not expired, and signed by a trusted certificate authority (CA).

    2.Install any missing intermediate or root certificates on the gateway machine.

    3.Make sure the gateway and SQL Server support SSL/TLS encryption, and the settings align.

    4.Test the connection again with encryption enabled after fixing the certificate trust issues.
