Billin an Event steram based on cu consumption
- 1 year ago
Hi KGU_16031986
Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.Your calculation is correct, with just a minor adjustment to consider:
The conversion from CU-seconds to CU-hours and the application of the per-CU-hour rate are accurate. The total cost over 14 days is approximately AUD 32.9.
The only suggestion is to normalize by the full 14-day window rather than the “active duration” (13.09 days), since the CU-consumption metric already reflects active versus idle usage.
Per calendar day: 172.38 CU-h ÷ 14 = 12.31 CU-h/day
Daily cost: AUD 2.35/day
Estimated 30-day cost: ≈ AUD 70.4
If you prefer to use “active days” (13.09), your figures of AUD 2.51/day and AUD 75.3/month remain valid.
In summary, the total cost for the 14-day period (AUD 32.9) is correct. The difference in monthly projections depends on whether you use calendar days or active usage days for normalization.

I would perhaps multiply by 1.25.
Because, your capacity is likely not running at 100% on average - that would be risky due to throttling. Let's say your target average utilization of the capacity is 80%, so you have a safety buffer of 20% to avoid entering throttling.
In that case, I'd multiply the chargeback by 1.25 (100%/80%) so that everyone's contributing to paying for the safety buffer as well.
